Other activities
Fundación Emmanuel was created to help people who fall into the vice of drugs, alcoholism, prostitution, etc.; and who, reaching a state of destitution, are left helpless by society. The need of these people moved us, and we felt it our duty to find a way to give them a new opportunity, offering them affection, shelter, food and hope; that is how it was born on December 5, 2000, in the city of Palmira, in a rented two-story house located in the Barrio el Recreo, Calle 21 No. 24-15. With very scarce resources, coming from the two main promoters, Carlomagno Jiménez and Gloria Isabel Echeverry, and with two people taken in from the streets of Palmira, Germán Moreno and Mario Puertas, currently active members and testimonies of the Foundation, this hard work began. After 3 years of effort, sacrifice, and dedication, we feel the satisfaction of duty fulfilled within our capabilities, having helped more than 500 people who have passed through our institution. The Foundation is nonprofit, and its goal is social service to the most needy and unprotected.
Two mattresses and a bed
To be an institution that offers the best support and training alternatives for people who have fallen into the scourge of drugs, destitution, prostitution, crime and alcoholism, creating self-sufficient farms, including in them industrial and academic training workshops, in order to offer many alternatives for people struggling to overcome this problem, and to foster the creation of their own businesses so that, once recovered, they can generate their own livelihood and be self-sufficient.
It is to anticipate and provide solutions to people who are marginalized by drugs and social neglect, giving them the opportunity to start a new life. To focus our efforts on improving quality of life in health, work, housing, food and education, based on love of neighbor and help for those in need.
Germán Moreno arrived at our beginnings in December 2000; he used drugs and lived off recycling ... today he is recovered and supporting the work with his testimony, giving courage to those who arrive. (See the photos in the album).
Carlomagno Jiménez next to Ciriaco Sánchez in Pereira at the Foundation where Ciriaco recovered. Carlomagno was the deputy director at that time, in 1990. He was a great businessman in the city of Palmira in the 1980s. He fell into drugs and today is recovered. He currently runs a home in restoration.
To shelter one hundred (100) students, training them in different industrial trades, guiding them comprehensively, physically, mentally and spiritually, to keep them away from the streets, vice and repeat offenses in prison, allowing their reinsertion into society as useful people. We currently can only assist an average of twenty (20) students, but with the collaboration of the community and the business sector, we hope to achieve our goal. We hope to count on your firm support and enjoy the pleasure of providing shelter and rehabilitation for someone in need, in addition to the tax benefits for donations.
Occupational Therapy
We are making various crafts such as wooden cars and balconies in our occupational therapy.
Food Brigades - these are continually carried out in critical spots, inviting young people to join the program.
For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me. Matthew 25:35-36
